Resources

The ingredients in our products and the composition of our home environment matters. Environmental toxins are one of the most significant contributors to illness and disease (cancer, thyroid disease, hormonal imbalance, infertility, diabetes). Our everyday exposure is increasing as agriculture and industrial systems prioritize efficiency and profitability. That said, it’s important to bring a level head when examining recommendations for natural health products.

Lara Adler is an environmental toxin educator who often uses the phrase “toxin avoidance.” We should aim to reduce our exposure to toxins (where we can) to avoid adverse health consequences now and in later years. If we can limit exposure, then it’s less likely that we will need to add things into our health to compensate for the health concerns (ex: medical treatment, supplements, “healing tools”).

Toxins in our products impact our health, but we don’t need to live in fear about every last ingredient. Pick the areas of highest priority and impact for you, and make changes to follow suit at the pace that you can.

Perhaps most important: information changes, and we’re always learning! While I have vetted these products, it’s also likely that I will learn new information and change my opinion on some of the recommendations. I will make updates to this collection and send them out to my email list as needed. I'm not of the opinion that you need MORE products. If you already have something that works for you, great!

For supplements listed, I only included non-practitioner supplements, meaning everyone has the ability to purchase these online. That said, I don’t recommend over-supplementing or blindly taking miscellaneous products! If needed, work with someone who can help create a customized protocol or muscle test yourself for need and compatibility.

Nothing on this list is meant to treat, cure, or prescribe in any way and is not intended as a replacement for medical care.

Lara Adler: “Environmental Toxins Nerd”
Lara is a researcher and a phenomenal resource for understanding environmental chemicals. Her approach is that of education and empowerment rather than fear. One of the sites/apps that Lara recommends is called Clearya.

I Read Labels for You
Irina is another incredible resource for helping you make decisions about anything from better cookware to healthy formula options. Her instagram shows graphics that reflect a scale of “safety” for toxicant exposure.

For the companies that I have an affiliate partnership with, I earn a small commission. As previously mentioned, these are brands I personally use and recommend. Should my opinion change on the products (regardless of partnerships) I'll let you know. For most of the brands that I have an affiliate agreement with, it incurs a discount for you as well! Hopefully this is helpful as you make changes to the brands you choose.
